I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW CLASS - USING NEW SU! WINDOW SHEETS

Today I held the first class ever in my new craft studio. I'm so excited. I put the studio shelving/cabinets and craft table in last year. It was my birthday gift and mother's day gift all in one. I'll have photos of the guest attendees and the studio in either the next post or one of the next posts. What I wanted to do tonight is to post the projects from class. 2 of my guests ordered kits so they need to see how to do the cards.

I used the new window sheets from the new SU! occasions mini catalog. They come with 2 sheets that divide into 4 separate pieces. I decided to do cards. The elegance factor goes way up when you use the window sheets. You can stamp on them, use markers, pastels, sew on them, make crafts with them. This first card uses the sheet with the leaves or what some may call wheat in white. I added the thinking of you from the stamp set sincere salutations. The sentiment is stamped in white staz on. The dsp underneath the window sheeting is from the new walk in the park from the occasions mini catalog. I stamped the envelope using kiwi kiss and old olive classic ink using the set wonderful you which is available but on the SU! dormant list.
Inside the card I stamped get well and the sentiment from the stamp set thoughts and prayers. The card base is ultra smooth white card stock which I love to stamp on! It is hands down the best card stock on the market in my opinion - biased of course, because it is from SU! The tree is also stamped - using stampinwrite markers- from the same stamp set.
This adorable matchbox was made with the matchbox die from SU! It is an exclusive BIG SHOT product made for SU! Have you seen the variety of boxes that people have been posting on the web using this? I wanted to showcase the plain window sheets which come in thick and thin and are also by SU! I used the thin ones for the box. First I diecut the base of the box using pretty in pink cardstock. I put the box together 1-2-3. Next I ran the window sheet through to get the slipcase. I stamped the background stamp from sprinkles all over the window sheet in white staz on. It dried pretty quickly. Inside I placed a little card made from us white card stock. I stamped the letters and sentiment from the sets defining alphabet and define your life sets respectively.

This is just another view of the matchbox so you can see the card stamped inside. The ribbon is striped pink pirouette grosgrain, also from SU!

This card is the thank you card in the set. I love the swirl. I attached the card with brads and adhered to it felt fusion flowers. The cardbase is certainly celery card stock. The envelope is stamped with the flourish and flowers and sentiment from baroque motifs.
This next card is one of my favorites. The design on the card is colored with pastels. It is really neat that what you stamp on the window sheet, especially if it is in white - will take on the color you add. You can also color in markers. For this card, I used a pink pirouette base. On top of that I scallop edge punched an ultras mooth white piece of card stock and stamped the flowers from blooming with love stamp set and the sentiment from hope happens. After coloring in the flowers, I ran the stamped piece through the Big Shot to texturize the card stock. I adhered the window sheet to the cardstock with rhinestone brads.
On the inside of the card I paper pieced the wheelbarrow from the blooming with love class. I then added crystal effects and dazzling diamonds glitter to the flowers. I love the effect of the glitter. Such a happy card. I would love to be the recipient of this card.

This last card was cased and I cannot remember from whom. If it is yours let me know and I will give you credit. I love this card. I used a walk in the garden dsp (which by the way is on special May 1-31 with SU! - buy 3 packs get the 4th free!), baja breeze and ultra smooth white card stock punched with the dotted scallop edge punch. The ribbon is white satin and I used flowers and a flat backed pearl from the pretties kit. The stamp set is en ovale (french SU! set - YES YOU CAN GET IT IN FRENCH and also in Spanish!) I used that set stamped in baja breeze on us white and then adhered it to a baja breeze scallop edge oval punch. The envelope also uses the en ovale set and also the level 1 hostess set God's beauty.
Linda Kincaid crafted these gorgeous cards for Eileen's birthday yesterday. I hope Eileen received her card, as now it is posted on my blog.

This is the card for Eileen for her birthday. I sent this set with Tara to use on an upcoming event but had stamped a couple images in black Staz On as I knew Eileen liked this set and I wanted to use it for her birthday card. Crystal Effects on boots and flowers but it does not show in photo. Shhhhh....hope she likes it. Words are from Older and Wiser set, Pocket Silhouettes, Scene in a Garden and Sanded background. It has been nice to slow down and take time to make a card. Sometimes I feel rushed to "get it done". I am never early getting cards out but this time I am a little ahead of the game. Have a great day. Find time to enjoy the sunshine a little.
great job Linda!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EILEEN

It's Eileen's Birthday and I wanted to send her a handcrafted/hand stamped birthday card. I started out with pink pirouette (in color '09) card stock and stamped flowers from the hostess set itty bitty buds in riding hood red classic ink. I also stamped the sentiment ENJOY from Enjoy Every Moment stamp set. I then ran the card through my BIG SHOT to get the textured effect. My waterspot covers the "o" in enjoy but underneath is one of our SU! riding hood red buttons, for added dimension. The adorable little bunny is from Animal Crackers (113395 $19.95) and says "ears wishing you a happy day." I stamped him on ultrasmooth white card stock and colored him with watercolors and stampinwrite markers and then topped him off with crystal effects. He's punched out with our 1 3/4 circle punch. This is a really great larger circle that is a nice complement to the 1 1/4 and 1 3/8 circle punches. The riding hood red card stock scallop is from the pennant die set for the BIG SHOT exclusive to SU! (113483 $39.95).

Made by Katie

A little over a week ago we had our Spring into Action Class. Katie Ford was a guest demonstrator and she did an awesome job. I'll show the card she made in a future post, but this project really caught my eye. Katie made adorable 3D butterflies with the BIG SHOT SU! exclusive Butterflies Die. She die cut a few different sizes of wings and attached them to Smarties candies for the bodies. How clever is this? Katie thought these would be good for child's parties, end of year school events, church gatherings or vacation bible school events, even to hand out at work for a welcome Spring party.
This is the butterfly die and it is one of the best. I think it may be fast approaching the second most popular die by SU! of course, the top note is probably most popular, but there is so much you can do with this die and butterflies are hot !!!! right now!

The pets will be featured by month and all proceeds go to the ASPCA. I sent three photos of Luigi and this is one of them. He is such a darling. When I call him to pose for a photo, he looks right up. He is the greatest puppy! Luigi Smith

MORE FROM SPRING INTO ACTION CLASS

As promised, here are some more projects from the Spring Into Action class from last Thursday night. Hsiao-hui Lin designed this fabulous pin from the Daisy die for the BIG SHOT. It is so cool. She die cut all three daisies from SU! pretty in pink card stock and layered them. Next she used the Build a Brad to hold them all together. With a dauber sponge pixie pink to highlight the petals. Attach a pin back so you can wear it and lastly, coat the layers with crystal effects by SU! It gives it a nice glossy coating. I think this would look great in different colors. This pin was actually a bonus project that went inside this top note purse. You got a sneak peak at it last week in the photos of the stampers working on it. Hsiao-hui demonstrated this project for the group. It is a project originally designed by Gretchen Barron. that Hsiao-hui cased almost exactly. She used the Tea Party papers, pretty in pink and certainly celery card stock and pretty in pink striped grosgrain (113882). This is another great BIG SHOT project.

First die cut the Box no. 2 with your Big Shot. We did this in pretty in pink card stock. Assemble the box. Next die cut the top note (exclusive to SU!) from card stock and from the tea party dsp. Adhere the tea party top notes to the card stock ones so that you have more stability. Next...attach them to the front and back of the box. Next die cut the tea party paper in the shape of the circle (you can also use your circle scissor plus for this) and the certainly celery in the shape of the scallop circle. Next score these so they will fold and fit on top of the box. Before you attach the circles, use your cropadile to set eyelets and attach your ribbon. The purse stays closed with velcro or magnet. On top, to finish the purse, we die cut the simple flower (114514) embosslit for the Big Shot and set a SU! rhinestone brad in the center. top/side view

HAPPY ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS WEEK

I want to thank our secretaries at work who do so much for us! I got up early today to stamp cards for them. The 2 main secretaries in the office are Debbie and Diana. I made these cards using the Bella Blossoms set and the sponge dauber shading technique. I love this flower as it really lends itself well to this technique. The colors I used were orchid opulence and lovely lilac for the bloom and certainly celery and green galore (I hardly ever use this color, I'm ashamed to say) for the stem and leaf. I then stamped their envelopes using my all time favorite Big Deal SU! alphabet. I have a nice gift to go along with the card for each of them.

These next two cards are for the secretaries in the NICU. They do a lot each day and I really need to thank them for all of their efforts also. I used the 8 great greetings set from the new occasions mini and stamped the flowers, then colored it in with a blender pen and pink pirouette reinker to match the card stock. The flowers in the oval are from the SU! 3 flower punch and then the oval and scallop oval (brand new) were punched as well. The designer paper is from a walk in the garden, which is also new in the Occasions Mini. I used one side of the double sided paper on one card, and one side on the other. I love both sides and sometimes it is really hard to choose between the two, but luckily you get a lot of sheets in the pack. I also used our new eyelet scallop edge punch and gave it a finishing touch. Last week we did these same cards only we made them mother's day cards.

Thanks Gwen, Vanta, Diana and Debbie and all of the secretaries/administrative professionals who do so much every day!
